Nothing's About to Happen to Me by Mitski

I’m not a Mitski superfan, but I’ve taken more of an interest recently as my son is attending Mitski’s alma mater (Purchase College) and he’s been a fan of hers for a minute.

Nothing’s About to Happen to Me is Mitski’s 8th full length album since 2012, with the last three being nominated for a Libera Awards (independent music awards) Album of the Year… with 2023’s The Land is Inhospitable and So Are We winning that award. (Also my #7 record for that year…)

The quality and success of Mitski’s discography has helped her build a large and dedicated group of fans… deservedly so! The thing that amazes me most with her work is the consistent quality of her records, from start to finish. Most artists have a few “singles” with a mix of quality and filler tracks to fill out the rest of the album. Mitski’s releases may still have a traditional single or two, but the entire rest of the album fits in the quality category. No filler… which makes this record highly recommended.
