Ricochet by Snail Mail

Snail Mail is the project from Lindsay Jordan, a singer songwriter from Maryland. Jordan has released three full length albums as Snail Mail, with Ricochet being her first release since Valentine in 2021.

My intro to Snail Mail was her 2018 debut record, Lush… we were lucky enough to catch her on tour to support that album. My daughter loved the song “Pristine” and the fact that Jordan also played travel hockey when she was younger, so when we saw she was playing in Cleveland on her birthday, we took the kids to their first concert. It was beyond memorable… Lindsay gave her a pick and the set list after the show.

Fast forward 8 years and Jordan is only 26, which is amazing considering how accomplished she has become… particularly with Valentine in 2021, which was my #5 album for that year and had appearances on many other year end lists.

Ricochet is a record of immense growth: songwriting quality, instrumentation, musicianship, singing, and lyrics. The quality and maturity is there, though I miss a little of the youthful messiness that was found on Lush and still on Valentine. The album is still worth your while, especially if you are new to Snail Mail.
