What song did you hate at first and then fell in love with?

Hate is a strong word, but growing up there were a lot of bands that I didn't like for whatever reason, but that reason usually didn't involve actually listening to the music. Maybe it was growing up in the punk and hardcore scene in the 90s, which had a lot less inclusivity than you expect from bands with songs about women's rights and vegetarianism/veganism. (over generalizing, of course... but it seems that has changed a lot over the years, like many areas of life. So very glad for that.)

Anyway, one band I definitely didn't like back then was Paramore. Again nothing to do with actually listening to Paramore, but I'd guess it probably had a little to do with a band signing to a major label so quickly. You know, "selling out"... which is funny to look back at now, considering most bands struggle to make money in the streaming era.

So tonight my daughter put on Paramore on the way to her bass lessons. I've obviously listened to Paramore since the early aughts... and I'm a huge fan of Hayley Williams and had Ego Death... at #29 last year. Super great album... but the point is, I'm glad she's more open to music than I was at that age. She listens to jazz, indie, classic rock, 90s one-hit wonders, hip hop... anything, simply because she likes the track and not pre-judging it through some jaded lens. Love that...

So I'm going with a Paramore track today for this prompt. Here's to music lovers.
