It's a Suffering
The Van Pelt
A song from the 1990s that you like or means something to you.
Fast forwarding another 10 years to 1996. As I was browsing albums from this year, it looks like I’ve already posted quite a few songs from this year, but nothing from The Van Pelt yet. One of my favorites and this song is stellar.

A song from the 1970s that you like or means something to you.
Since I celebrated my 50th birthday this month, I decided to pick a Billboard top song from 1976.
I've picked Heart a few times before, so this song and this album definitely mean a lot to me.

Blue Meets Blue
Thomas Dollbaum
Pick a song that reminds you of a color. What color?
One of my fave new albums from this week and it fits the prompt!
Fans of songs:ohia, MJ Lenderman will love this…
Not Like Us
Kendrick Lamar
Post a song that mentions another recording artist or artists.
So, Drake was at the middle school by my house surprising a father/daughter duo that apparently do a TikTok every day of them doing Drake songs in their car at school pickup.
I like when famous people do things like this, especially when we're like 1.5-2 hours from Toronto (not super close)... but for Drake, it's probably not a good idea to have the headline be "Drake surprises middle school girl"... just saying.

Lungfish dominating my ears lately, as it has become an annual tradition of working my way through their discography. This time spurred on by talks of starting a drone punk band with my childhood friend and my bass playing daughter.
Today's share is from their 2nd album: Rainbows for Atoms (1993)
Things never have been wronger or righter
Things have never been hotter or brighter
I keep waking up, I'm halfway there
I live my life just barely aware
I'm living the merciless
I'm living in the irrevocable
I'm living in a headlock
I'm living in the unforgiving
Just about right here
I'm always just about right now
I live in the right here I live in the right now
I keep waking up
After I get done waking up
The last song you heard on the radio
This prompt drove me to listen to our local NPR station on the way to drop off our car at the dealer this evening. It’s close so only caught a couple songs: Leon Bridges, Vampire Weekend and this one… dig it. Apparently he’s playing the Borderlands festival here this fall.
The More I Get, the More I Want
Q and not U
Hit shuffle on your music library and post the first song played
The interesting part’s always caught outside the frame.
Can’t believe it’s been 26 years since the album was released. And there hasn’t been a band like Q and Not U since…
Also, highly recommend Different Damage and Power, their two albums released after this debut record.
Your Face Left Before You
Buke & Gase
Post a song that uses an instrument in an abnormal way
Maybe abnormal because they invented their own instruments: the buke is a six-string former-baritone ukulele and the gase is a hybrid guitar-bass.
One of the most amazing, unique sounds in indie rock. Been a huge fan ever since my introduction via Tiny Desk in 2011.
