This prompt drove me to listen to our local NPR station on the way to drop off our car at the dealer this evening. It’s close so only caught a couple songs: Leon Bridges, Vampire Weekend and this one… dig it. Apparently he’s playing the Borderlands festival here this fall.

Can’t believe it’s been 26 years since the album was released. And there hasn’t been a band like Q and Not U since…
Also, highly recommend Different Damage and Power, their two albums released after this debut record.

Maybe abnormal because they invented their own instruments: the buke is a six-string former-baritone ukulele and the gase is a hybrid guitar-bass.
One of the most amazing, unique sounds in indie rock. Been a huge fan ever since my introduction via Tiny Desk in 2011.

Billed as an “undeniably great band” by Apple Music, but I never really understood why… 10+ albums and I could maybe make one album of songs I’d listen to again. And this is the only single I’d promote off that record. 😂
