Blu & Exile are everything I love about hip hop: a top notch lyricist over masterfully crafted beats and sample selection. Exile is one of the best producers going today, continuing on the legacy and influence of J Dilla. Blu is one of the best lyricists in alternative hip hop – one review going as far as stating that Blu is like if Nas and Prodigy were on the west coast. Pretty accurate.

Together they’ve put out 5 full length albums and two EPs since 2007, with the highlights being their debut, Below the Heavens (2007), Miles: From an Interlude Called Life (2020), and this album. Definitely check out those older releases.

Every track on this project just hits. Then add some amazing guest features too: Rome Streetz, Saba, Black Thought, Fashawn, and Mach-Hommy. This is definitely going to be one of my favorite hip hop albums for 2026. Highly recommended.
