Crucial Tracks is a growing community of passionate music fans. The site is part music blog and part “slow social” music journaling community where members share the songs that are important to them. Members can share one song per day and there’s a daily prompt to help them pick a song for the day. In addition, we have a Desert Island Disc section where members can share the 8 albums they’d pick to take with them and a mixtape sharing section where members can share a 10 song mixtape with the community.

Current stats as of May 16, 2026:

  • Over 6,000 page views per month across the app and blog
  • 350 app members
  • 365 newsletter subscribers
  • Our members have shared over 7,700 songs in the last year

What we can offer

Crucial Tracks Interview Series

We’d love to feature your artist in our Crucial Tracks Interview series.

The interview format helps readers learn about the role of music in your artist’s life. What songs made them who they are today.

It’s a written response format, so no need to schedule an in-person interview. Just answer the questions and return to Jason via email (hello@crucialtracks.org) at your convenience. We can work with you to schedule the interview at a time that works best for your artist, to promote a new album or tour, for example.

Submit your album for review

I love finding new music and sharing it on the Crucial Tracks blog. If your artist is in the following genres, you’ll have an increased likelihood of being considered for review:

  • Indie rock, alt rock, shoegaze
  • Indie folk, alt folk, folktronica
  • Old school hip hop, boom bap, alt hip hop, underground hip hop
  • Hardcore, post-hardcore, emo, melodic hardcore
  • Bedroom pop, dreampop

I will listen to everything I receive in these (or adjacent) genres, but I only share albums I consider a B or higher via the blog. Releases that fit in the B+ or higher range get a full written review as seen in the Featured Albums area.

Send digital music to Jason via hello@crucialtracks.org
