Show Me the Body is a NYC-based hardcore band formed in 2009. Along Together is the bands fourth full-length album. Beyond that the band has released two mixtapes, a live album, and six EPs over the last 12 years.
Much like Glow On was the tipping point for Turnstile, I think Along Together is going to be the tipping point for Show Me the Body. SMTB is already shockingly more popular than I expected at the time of this release (similar to Turnstile was at the time of Glow On)… but I do think this new album will propel the band to the next level.
The band combines the speed and ferocity of NY hardcore with aspects of hip-hop, industrial, sludge, noise, EDM, jazz, and melody from alternative rock to create a unique sound in aggregate. You can easily hear influences from bands like Turnstile, Cro-Mags, Bad Brains, Quicksand, IDLES, and Militarie Gun… but SMTB sounds very distinct from all of these bands. And yeah, they are fronted by a charismatic banjo player, so no one is competing with that…
