Not sure Willow Smith needs much of an introduction, when your parents are Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith.
Willow is, however, a very prolific musician/songwriter, having released 8 full-length albums by the age of 25, including two this year (Petal Rock Black back in February). Petal Rock Black received an honorable mention from me back in February, but The Thread exceeds it in every way and I fully expect it to be in the conversation for my top 10 albums of the year.
With The Thread, Willow continues down the art pop, jazz, R&B crossover from Petal Rock Black, so if you loved my Saya Gray #1 album from last year or my obsession with the Dirty Projectors, you’ll be interested in this one as well. Excellent song writing and vibes, as you can see by my 6 track magic ✨ selection below… there’s a bit of a lull in the middle of the album, but it picks right back up and finishes strong.

Update: Getting some potentially shady vibes from the Willow Bandcamp account. Bought the new album yesterday and now it’s not in my collection. Searched on Bandcamp and now it’s listed on another page. AND over the course of publishing my review the link has broken a few times.
Thought it was maybe my copy/paste or user error but now thinking maybe the account has changed multiple times in the past week. I contacted the new page so hoping I get some answers, but for now I’m removing the Bandcamp links to keep people away.
