Why is this one of my Desert Island Discs?

From the moment I heard Alive I knew I had to find out more about this band. Easily the album I have listened to the most often, the lyrics, THAT voice, and the ever building wail of the guitars makes the hairs on my arms stand up.

I saw them live a few years ago, they opened with Release and I was in tears by the end of that track. Outside of the better know tracks —Alive, Even Flow, Jeremy— the remaining tracks explore vivid dark images, underpinning Eddie's voice as he soars and growls his way through each track.

This album is, for me, the beginning of a life long love affair.
