Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: April 27, 2026

Crucial Tracks exists because music connects us as humans. Every song shared here has a story behind it, and every person sharing deserves to feel safe and welcome doing so. This policy exists to keep it that way.

The golden rule

Treat everyone here with respect and empathy. You don't have to like someone's taste in music to appreciate the story behind it. That's the whole point of this site: to build empathy and connection during times where most corporate social sites are used to divide us.

Don't do these things

  • Harassment or hate speech. No threatening, bullying, or targeting anyone based on who they are. Zero tolerance.
  • Spam. Don't use Crucial Tracks to promote unrelated products, services, or schemes.
  • Impersonation. Be yourself. Don't pretend to be someone else or create fake accounts.
  • Scraping or automation. Don't use bots, scrapers, or automated tools to access the site in ways it wasn't designed for.
  • Malware or attacks. Don't attempt to compromise the site, other users' accounts, or anyone's devices.
  • Illegal activity. Don't use Crucial Tracks for anything that breaks the law.
  • Abuse of the platform. Don't try to circumvent rate limits, create multiple accounts to game the system, or otherwise use the site in bad faith.

Content guidelines

Crucial Tracks is a place for sharing music and the stories that go with it. Keep your posts focused on that. Your stories can be personal, funny, sad, nostalgic, political, whatever — as long as you're connecting it to music and not using it as a vehicle to attack other people.

What happens if you break the rules

We're not looking to be heavy-handed. Most issues can be resolved with a conversation. But depending on the severity:

  • First time: We'll reach out and talk about it.
  • Repeated issues: Temporary suspension of your account.
  • Serious violations: Permanent removal from the platform.

Hate speech and targeted harassment skip straight to the end of that list. We want everyone to feel safe here.

Reporting

If you see something that violates this policy, please let us know at hello@crucialtracks.org. We take every report seriously and will handle it as quickly as we can.

This community is small and intentional, and we'd like to keep it that way. Thanks for doing your part. 🤘
