Find a song you used to love, but forgot about. Tell us what made that song special during that period of your life.
The Most Serene Republic was a band I fell in love with during the "move back to Buffalo" stage of my life. The wife and I were just getting settled, moving from apartment living to our current home. Our son was about to be born in 2007...
It was also part of the eMusic phase... and in addition to underground hip hop, I absolutely devoured everything that was Arts & Crafts related – the Toronto label run by Broken Social Scene's Kevin Drew. So that obviously meant BSS, as well as all of the band members solo projects like Jason Collett, Feist, etc and bands like TMSR.
My favorite records by them include Population (2007) and Underwater Cinematographer (2004)... the wife and I were lucky enough to see them in Buffalo – the only show (from what I remember) we saw in 2008, which just happens to be almost 18 years ago to the day. (This was also just a few months before the twins were born, as my wife went on bed rest shortly after the concert.)
Maybe it's why Stella is such a good musician? 😄
