Surrender

The Chemical Brothers

Why is this one of my Desert Island Discs?

Like many, my intro to the Chemical Brothers was via the PlayStation game WipeOut.

From In Dust We Trust I tracked down their first album and since then they've just banged out album after album, and rarely do they miss.

Picking an album from their catalogue is tricky, but I think Surrender is the most accessible, includes the meandering building towering Sunshine Underground (they are so so good at creating tracks like this, it's a playlist all of its own in my library!), and of course, the insta-recognisable, absolute banger classic, Hey Boy Hey Girl.

I've seen them live countless times and they never fail to deliver, and some of the tracks on this album sound as fresh today as they did over 20 years ago.
