Come By Me
Harry Connick, Jr.
We've been lucky enough to see Harry Connick, Jr. in concert several times. He seems to like Savannah. If you get the chance to see him live, go, even if you think he's not a fan. I always get the impression that, even if no one else showed up, they'd still play because they're just having a lot of fun.
This song feels a lot like his shows do.

Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down
Kris Kristofferson
We lost a giant when we lost Kris Kristofferson. "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down" is one of my favorites from him. The word play - "my cleanest dirty shirt" - and the sadness in it are incredible.
The idea is simple. A man wakes up and walks around town on a Sunday morning. He sees a kid kicking a can, listens to a song being sung at a church. But the story that's told, and what it evokes, is hard to match.
It was recorded by Ray Stevens, was a number one hit for Johnny Cash, but I prefer the man himself singing it.
And there's nothin' short of dyin', half as lonesome as the sound
On the sleepin' city side walks, Sunday mornin' comin' down
What’s your favorite track one on a debut album?
I remember hearing this song on cassette that a friend had. Great southern rock. One of the few CCM bands that was really, really good. My wife and I just saw them on their 30th anniversary tour for this album.
