This song has been for me a breathe of fresh air on a cloudy and heavy day. The simplicity of the melody and words is a welcome change in this world full of noise, distractions, overwhelming everything that bombs our senses. A voice, a guitar, is what one really needs sometimes. Below there's a translation of the lyrics. Enjoy.
The first time I saw the sea was in a photo Life-sized on top of a skyscraper I dodged cars so I wouldn't die I hid among warm engines to get through the winter My tail is docked and my face is scarred For a house cat who ended up not wanting me I've known good men, bad men A caress and a spit
And the traffic lights lulled me The moaning of the pigeons And autumn was the smoke from a manhole And the fog was my way of being in the clouds I raced on the concrete I imagined what silence might sound like I stole fish from the markets I waited for ice cream to melt I used rags as blankets And the sun rose from the chimneys I had little, but I dreamed a lot I'm a city cat
Inside this cardboard box I'm doing pretty well And I take the whole world in my hands in a cotton ball With a shinobi acrobatics I ambush a glimmer It's a sure thing, I won I reach out and it's gone Balancing on the stack I lick the dishes waiting to be washed Now I'll open up a little mouse and bring it to you Among the country ruins I rule, I'm a god I'm the luckiest one and I don't even know it And I don't know by what miracle with all my friends We barely get by in the world, but we're happy
We had little We dreamed a lot And we barely get by in the world, but we're felines
