What’s the first song you’d play at a party?
This was an immediate answer for me. It’s lodged from the early 2000s, but I’d still fire it up. (Of course, these days I’d first have to want to be at a party.)

This album is great and I’m giving it a relisten this week, so there may be more shared but this song is a standout for me.

I submit this song. That’s it.

I heard this song around the time of Andrew Bird’s, “Fake Palindromes.” They’re not similar but, to me, they’re tied to a time period.
It’s a song that rips from start to finish. There are early elements that remind me of Arcade Fire, Andrew Bird, Fiona Apple, and others.

This song shows off Florence’s writing, singing, and the rumbling orchestration of the Machines. Instant favorite from the new album.

It’s Halloween. This song’s great. What else is there to say?

This song, and this album, is so good. Great opening track for what follows. I had the chance to see them live recently and they put on one heck of a live show. 10/10, would recommend.

Again, off prompt, but some folks have been posting late 90s/early 2000s emo and this song, though it came later, fits right there. I saw them in a basement club in State College, PA, about a decade ago. Great show; great song.
The build up in the beginning to the first lines.
Going off prompt, but I’m waiting for The Beaches newest album at the end of the month. This song’s a banger and the other singles released are great. Great vocals, great orchestration, and has breakdowns in all the right places.
