There are several covers of Kavinsky’s Nightfall, but none is quite as unique and enjoyable as this version by Lully Hill. Where others have simply recreated the dramatic vocals and moody melody, this particular cover steps off in another direction (Bossa Nova?!) and just does its own entirely different thing. I love it.

The haunting piano of Philip Glass, masterfully executed on the harp. Some pieces play well on the harp, while others—like this one—sound as if they were destined for it.

Obadiah Parker took an amazing song and turned it into something amazing in a different way. Slower, more elegant, more emotional. For years, the only way to listen to this was on YouTube, where his live recording went up 16 years ago. I watched it often.

Sometimes you just want to hear a really good song from another really good band.

There are a handful of solid covers of this classic Eagles tune (which Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy fans will instantly recognize), but few dare to put their own spin on it as much as this one.

The Prince song famously covered by Sinead O’Connor was also covered by the Queen of Soul just a few years before her death. This version is quite jazzy, including some wonderful scat signing midway and a glorious ending.

Kurt Cobain should have used more steel guitars.

There are covers that replay the original, maybe with a new voice or a fresh sound. And then there are covers that redefine the original, transforming it into something entirely different (aside from the lyrics). This is one of those.

A lovely tribute to the original, matching its energy while slowing things down just enough to make the lyrics more intelligible.
