An overcast day (but not dark), a little rain, cool breeze.
Hot tea. Good book.

I don't know why but when I doodle I write out the lyrics to this song in Hindi and then Urdu. I don't speak or write in these languages so much day to day anymore but this practice has kept me somewhat in touch with them.

What song would you dedicate to your younger self?
I moved to Canada when I was 17 from Dubai. My family is from India, and the United Arab Emirates was never going to be a permanent home, even though that's where I felt like I was from. That's just how it is there for immigrants. Leaving home and my family was scary, but here I am 22 years later. I have a life that I love and a place I call home.
This song is about travellers, I think both literally and for those who travel through life. i.e. all of us.

I first heard this song in grade 9. That was in 2001 :D
I still listen to this song very often 25 years later. It's starts out with this pretty melancholic, hypnotic melody that keeps getting added to until it finally explodes. It's kind of what I felt like when I was younger; frustrated, sad, anxious. But there's this hopefulness I feel towards the end of the song, especially in the album version. There's a bit when the drums hit this fill and then start this hi-hat rhythm that just feels like it gave the song a new life, and I always always felt like that was what my life was going to be. It was going to be okay, and I would find that moment that revitalized me.
I think that I did find that moment. And I realize now that life is just this journey over and over and over again.
