I'm going down a bit of a jazz rabbit hole this morning, turning over stones I've never touched before.

Sometimes we're just tired.

Thinking about how hip-hop used to be heavily chastised for sampling, only to have one of the biggest pop artists in the world use a sample without asking when Madonna sampled Public Enemy's "Security of the First World" for her song "Justify My Love". Fun fact, there is a small sample of Jackie Robinson's "Pussy Footer" used on Public Enemy's track, just a simple voice sample about 2:44 in on the sampled track, but otherwise the Bomb Squad made a purely original track and it's a banger on its own.

A song that represents where you live

I saw Cursive as an opener for Minus the Bear during the Infinity Overhead tour. I saw them at The Slowdown, which is named after the band Slowdown Virginia which included members of Cursive. I remember the lead up to the show of people being shocked I had never heard of Cursive before, because how could you be from Nebraska, much less live in Omaha, without listening to Cursive? Long story short, I became a fan seeing them live.
