Egyptrixx - Chrysalis Records (feat. Trust) [Bible Eyes | Night Slugs, 2011]

In 2011 Night Slugs was one of the hottest labels around for me. It was also the year I spent one semester in Paris although I didn't study much. Unfortunately, I didn't get to go clubbing much either, because there weren't many locations to go to. I wonder if this has changed by now.

I always thought this LP was released on Seba’s Secret Operations label only to find out today that it was basically released by Carhartt – yes, the clothing company! Either way it’s one of my favourite Drum and Bass albums.

Back in 2006, I went to a festival where Massive Attack were the headline act. But my 17-year-old self wasn't able to appreciate them at the time. I really regret not seeing them perform live, and I hope I will one day.

Today’s Prompt: A song that reminds you of one of your favorite places.

This track reminds me of my first shared flat which was my first 'own' home. One of my flatmates and I used to play 'Untrue', especially 'Archangel', on repeat. Whenever it came on, we would try to sing along to the chopped-up vocals. So, despite its gloomy mood, I associate very goofy moments with this track.

For me, this album contains at least two tracks that fit this prompt: 'Seeing the Edges' and 'Ant City‘. I chose the latter, though, as it sprang to my mind immediately.

I discovered this song a few years ago through a YoTube video and I've loved it ever since because it puts me in a good mood immediately. While researching the label that released this song for this post, I found out that its mission is "to educate about the importance of preserving native tongue contemporary music.“ I agree with that and with this in my mind I feel like my choice for this prompt fits even better.
