I heard this at random on Alt Nation. on the drive home yesterday. It's an artist I don't think I've heard before. As usual it's not the lyrics but the music itself that got to me. I'm sure further listens will give me more to hear.

I remember first hearing this one in my second year of college; we added Cold War Kids to the playlist and this was one of them. It's a bit of a sleeper, as I think most people are familiar with their other hit from the album, "Hang Me Up to Dry" (also a great song!).

I hear they have some new material this year, I will be checking that out sometime soon.

The final track of CBC Radio 3's February 10 2006 podcast, Sinwave's "Wizard of Ahhhs" is a fantastic synth instrumental piece and my favourite thing I've listened to today. Going to listen to the full album (Unity Gain, 2006) later today.

The latest single from Harry Styles. I heard that he had a new one out, but until today hadn't listened. A few nights ago while listening to the radio I heard mention of "...influenced by LCD Soundsystem" and that encouraged me to finally listen.

It's a nice song! It's not the "typical pop" you might expect from him and I don't expect it will get much traction on "Top 40" radio, which is a shame.

"The Chain" by Fleetwood Mac

I heard this on the radio this morning on the way to work, just at the start of my drive. I never get tired of it. There are many different parts to the song that just hook me. The entire album is great, too (but you don't need to take my word for it).

"You Wouldn't Like Me" by Tegan and Sara (2004)

This song popped up in a CBC Radio 3 podcast from January 2006, and reminded me that Tegan and Sara are brilliant musicians. I always love their songwriting and musical arrangements. Will listen to the full album soon.

The most ridiculous song I've listened to today: "Dear Megan Fox" by Bowling For Soup (2025).

I didn't know that Bowling For Soup released an album this year, and I found this purely by accident when I was putting a random "pop-punk" playlist together. It was one of Spotify's suggested songs, and I knew the band, so I added it. It entirely fit the bill of the sound I was looking for - that "classic" 2000s pop-punk style with the fun lyrics and pop hooks. It turned me onto the rest of the album which I'm listening to now.

What’s the last song you discovered and loved instantly?

This morning I heard "The Waiting" by Marcus King; it's a cover of the song by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. It's a bit slower and is injected with a different personality. I really liked it.

An artist credit I didn't expect to see today: Kristen Stewart. I think it's just spoken word on her behalf and I'm not sure if it was recorded for this music or if Lord Huron pulled from another source.
