#365songs (167 / 365)
The title track of Charly Bliss's all-killer-no-filler-except-for-"Camera" (sorry "Camera" lovers but don't @ me) second album. Their first album Guppy was a fantastically fun little guy with bubblegum vocals and Weezer instrumentals, but Young Enough is a whole different animal, more grown-up by leaps and bounds: I bonded with a friend over Guppy when our friendship was still in early stages, and we were both super excited for Young Enough and thrilled when it was as good as it is.
This song is a slow build, riveting for 5 minutes despite Charly Bliss's power-pop background, centered on one of their best lines. "We're young enough to believe it should hurt this much" could be a thesis statement for any of a number of singer-songwriters if they had the same kind of self-awareness as Eva Hendricks.
