Bonkers.

The kind of music fan who ends up moving to Scotland in his 40's to write a PhD thesis about Nick Cave. No, that's not a joke.
Bonkers.

New sunn O))) record last week. Like all their records, it is not or the faint of heart, nor is it something I will listen to regularly, but they are absolute masters of what they do. Their walls of guitars are both brutal and beautiful and reward the listener willing to surrender to their aural tsunami.

What I most appreciate about this record is that it is mostly songs that I wouldn't have chosen if I were to choose the ideal trackless for a Bon Iver live record, and I'm thoroughly enjoying hearing the way the bands performance is transforming my view of each selection.
Not sure how I’m just discovering Morgan Nagler, but I’m glad I am.

Some albums have a good opening track, but the 2nd track is totally killer. What's your favorite 2nd track song?
Is it overplayed? Absolutely. Is it a stone cold classic that perfectly captures a moment in time and one of the greatest 2nd tracks of any album ever? Also, probably, yes. Maybe. 🤷🏻♂️

Still really enjoying this record.
Re-watched the beautiful film Sentimental Value with my wife this weekend. I hadn't heard this song or artist before, which features prominently a couple of times, most notably at the beginning as the house is introduced. The Nick Drake adjacent vibes pulled me in enough to track it down. The record has some really nice moments and that 70's production style that feels like the musical equivalent of the sun at golden hour is sooooooo nice.
