Another John Moreland tune that hits like a punch to the gut, especially the last two verses:
So I'm trying not to think about home And all that I miss I swallowed my pride and I cried Cause we didn't exist You said it's now or never Well I never stop feeling that way We get turned around, our spirits break down We just lie and say we're okay
And the older I get, you know Truth, it gets harder to find And famous false prophets Get by off of robbing good men blind Maybe I don't have it in me Maybe it doesn't have me in it And if I don't fly, that's fine Just let me find a place where I fit

This song makes me tear up every time I hear it because it always makes me think of my twins, but especially Nick because we are SO similar. It
And you’re so much like me I’m sorry

Easy Come, Easy Go by Hayes Carll. This song is an absolute masterpiece of storytelling.
Another great tune by Lucero that makes me I wish I could write like Ben Nichols.
Home, it might scatter and fade With time, all things must change The road, it might take its own course But at its end, mama, we’re still your boys
Did you sing along to anything today? Describe the moment.
It’s probably been close to 25 years since I last listened to Morphine and I kinda forgot about them until I saw Cure for Pain in the community tracks here. This was always my favorite song of theirs, and now it’s back in my regular rotation. Honestly, I’m kinda surprised I remember all of the words since it’d been so long and now I’m old 😂

There are probably others, but I Love Rock ‘N Roll by Joan Jett and The Blackhearts stands out in my memory. I was 7 years old in 1981, and It was the first cassette that I was able to buy on my own with money that I earned from doing chores. I remember carrying around my little boom box and blasting the title track and as soon as it would finish playing, I’d rewind it and listen to it again.
Lyrically, this probably my favorite Counting Crows song. It’s SO GOOD.
And the worst part of a good day Is the one thing you don’t say And you don’t know how But you wish there was some way When you pull down the shades And you shut out the light Because somehow we mixed up goodbye and goodnight And the one thing you won’t say Is everyone knows possibility days are impossible
