I've answered this question twice before with live performances by Whitney Houston (which is my favorite live performance ever), and Kelly Clarkson. Here's another live performance that's one of my favorites. This is K.D. Lang performing "Crying" at the Roy Orbison tribute in 1990. It's easily one of the best vocal performances I have ever heard.
