Trouble of the World
Mahalia Jackson
Post one of your favorite musical performances from a movie.
Since I don't have a favorite city, I am using another prompt today. One of my favorite musical performances from a movie is without a doubt the funeral scene from the movie "Imitation of Life". This shows without a doubt what a magnificent singer Mahalia Jackson was! This is so powerful and moving! If this doesn't move you, you must be dead.

Think (feat. The Blues Brothers)
Aretha Franklin
What song did you discover in a tv show or movie?
The first time I heard Aretha Franklin's "Think" it was while watching "The Blues Brothers" on TV. I didn't know about the version that she recorded back in the 1960s until afterwards.

Deep Purple
Donny & Marie Osmond
Which artist were you a fan of first? Write the story of the song that made you a fan.
That would be Donny & Marie Osmond for me. The first 2 albums I ever bought were Donny & Marie Osmond albums and the third album I ever bought was a Marie Osmond solo album. I don't remember one particular song that made me a fan, but it would have been one of the songs from their TV show, so I'll just pick one from the show. I was about 9 or 10 years old at the time.
The Crucible Of God
Elmer Bernstein
What is your favourite soundtrack?
I don't really have a favorite soundtrack, because so many soundtracks are mixed bags for me. Many soundtracks have some songs I like but also have some songs that I don't like. However, the soundtrack to "The Ten Commandments" is one I can listen to all the way through, without skipping tracks. It's all instrumental and has some really dramatic music to go along with the dramatic movie, that also happens to be my favorite movie. So, I guess this might qualify as my favorite soundtrack after all, since I really can't think of any others that I listen to all the way through without skipping tracks.
Come In Out of the Rain
Wendy Moten
Which artist did you discover thanks to a music video?
I saw the video for this song back in 1992, when it was released. I immediately loved the song and the voice. I thought Wendy Moten would go on to be a big star, but it didn't work out that way. She was so good, I was very surprised to see that she didn't become a big star, but I never forgot this song or this voice.
Soul Bossa Nova (Smooth Jazz Relaxing Music)
Walking Music Personal Fitness Trainer
What would you put on for a long brisk walk?
Something relaxing like this.
Which song makes you emotional? Why?
There's just something about this song that I find touching.
There'll Be Sad Songs (To Make You Cry)
Billy Ocean
Post one of your favorite ballads.
The last time I answered this, I said "The Way We Used to Be" by Eric Carmen. I have also posted some of my favorite ballads in response to some other prompts here. But I am such a huge ballad lover, I still have so many more to choose from. I could never pick just one favorite ballad. Beautiful ballads are unfortunately largely missing from today's music. I really miss them. Today I'll go with a Billy Ocean tune.

Post one of your favorite sad songs.
The last time I answered this one, I said "Old Shep" by Elvis Presley. I'm going to go with another story song this time, "Forever" by The Crabb Family.
A song that you like in multiple versions
I'm picking "The Good Life" for this one. I can't really decide on a favorite version. I have 3 favorite versions. They are by Laura Fygi, Shirley Horn, and Billy Eckstine, and each of these three versions is about equally good and all 3 versions are worth checking out. I'll just have to pick a version to post here, but I don't really like one version over the other. Also, the versions by The Drifters, and Matt Monro are pretty good too.
