1939 is a terrible time to feel nostalgic for, but I also didn’t live through a post apocalyptic nuclear wasteland, so let’s just say I feel nostalgic for that.

And nostalgia for times you didn’t witness yourself is going to be longing for something that never existed anyway, based on your misconceived misunderstanding, colored by your view of the world, be it rose or Nuka Cola blue.

Today's artist is The Besnard Lakes! They don't show up in my Coding Playlist, but they probably should. They're very shoegazey so if you like Explosions in the Sky or Mogwai, you'll probably like them. Also, they're from Canada, so they're automatically OK.

The early 1970's had some fantastic soul music.

This music sprinkles nostalgia all over. (Even though I want there.) I would have loved to see this live when it was released.

My Dad was a folk music fan, he played guitar and banjo with my Uncle Phil in a band for a while, once appearing on the same bill as The Corries (the Flower of Scotland guys). My parents loved music, it was an ever present in my life.

The Mamas and Papas album was (on tape at least) on frequent rotation, and this song always makes me wonder what life would've been like back then, the early 60s, the California sunshine, in the throes of the hippy movement, love and peace.

The first few seasons of Happy Days, a must watch TV show about a family in the 1950s, this tune was the theme song (until the producers got tired of paying for it and wrote their own.) I'm pretty sure it was also used in American Graffiti.

My thoughts immediately went to the jazz greats I love but never will be able to hear sing live (in one of those old smoky jazz clubs like you see in movies 🙂)

In the morning I just listen to news radio for the weather and headlines but the song agrees with my opinion on mornings in general.

Band of Horses headlined the night and were as good as I’ve seen them. Played Everything All The Time in its entirety, then a handful of other songs including this one.

This is more of a gotta go, gotta go now kind of song, but it's definitely right for some kind of mornings.

Not gonna lie, I remember playing the heck outta this song as a senior in high school. It was also back when I listened to more variety minus video game OSTs, give or take...

Hate on Sting if you must, I do have a few songs that should be spared the fuming spite. I always found it so melodic & almost like a credit roll for a long journey. Last part was from my active imagination I admit.

It really depends on the day, and what mood I'm in at the time. But for a sort of "let's get the day started on a positive note" vibe, this song really fits that bill!

I don't have anything for today's prompt. Today I am posting a song that I thought I had already posted on my profile, but I went through everything on my profile and it isn't there. I think this song and the harmonies on this track are so beautiful!

What's your go-to song for getting ready in the morning?

I don’t think I have such a song. Mornings are bleary eyed stumbles for caffeine, as quietly as possible so as not to wake my son.

However if I am up early to exercise then I need something upbeat to get me going, and I find the repetition of You Can Do It quickly moves my mood to where I need it to be.

I couldn't tell you what this song is actually about but the sound of it is a fall day when it's warm enough for a t-shirt and it's just the right amount of sunny.

I think this one has to go to a cover of Bittersweet Symphony by Ren. He's done many great covers (all only available on his YouTube channel), but this is my favourite.

Ren doesn't just do covers the usual way, he adds his own unique lyrics and style to them as well, in his own spectacularly talented way.

Today's another day that I have nothing for the daily prompt. Today I'm going to share a song that was written by Willie Nelson. I personally don't care for Willie Nelson's singing voice, so I don't like Willie's version. This is my favorite version of this song.
